Two Fathers That Count
June 20, 2021
A collaboration between the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board, Send Relief is here to help you make a difference in your community and the world around you—because compassion ministry opens doors to the gospel.
Sharing the love of Jesus is central to everything we do at Send Relief. Whether it’s responding to natural disasters, caring for refugees and displaced families, fighting human trafficking at home and abroad, supporting adoption and foster care efforts and strengthening communities facing economic and physical crises, our goal is the same.
With your help, we have raised millions of dollars to serve vulnerable people across the globe. By equipping you and your church at ministry centers and working with international partners, you help bring the hope of the gospel to dozens of countries, and, because of your generosity, hundreds of community development projects are completed every year.
But the need is still great! Pray, give and serve alongside us to reach the nations with the hope of the gospel!
Bryant Wright served in Southern Baptist life as both a pastor and SBC president before joining Send Relief in 2020. He retired as the founding Senior Pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, on December 15, 2019, where he had pastored for 38 years.
He is a straightforward communicator who uniquely connects God’s unchanging truth with a diverse culture through compelling and creative teaching. He and his wife, Anne, live in Marietta and have three grown sons, three daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren.
Passage (read it):
Principle (know it):
One dad, we die twice; two dads, we die once.
Daily Readings:
The 39 books of the Old Testament are broken down into three sections. The Books of the Law (Genesis – Deuteronomy), the Writings which include history and poetry (Joshua – Song of Solomon), and the Prophets (Isaiah – Malachi). The Prophets are divided into two groups, Major Prophets (Isaiah – Daniel) and Minor Prophets (Hosea – Malachi). The distinction between major and minor is not based on the importance of the prophet or his message, but rather on the length of the book itself. This week’s reading plan begins a journey through the minor prophets. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart for God’s message to His people.
