How do you show love? For some, love is best communicated through physical affection. For others, it is through gifts, or time, or acts of service, or words of affirmation. Counselors and psychologists say that the way we express love to others is also the way we hope to receive it. When asked about the most important commandment, Jesus answered, “to love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your strength.” Have you ever considered how God best receives your love? In this message Pastor Gary Webber explores an encounter Jesus had with three people who had very different thoughts about how to express love to God.
What we learn about expressing love for God from Mary, Martha and Judas:
- Judas: Don't allow the important to replace the essential.
- Martha: There is no place for anxiety and worry in our relationship with God.
- Mary: Choose the ONE THING that matters: LOVE
To be an empty vessel our love for God must be:
- Unmeasured
- Unrestrained
- Unselfish
When you are consumed with love for God you become strangely unaware of the thoughts and critiques of others.
