The Dust of the Rabbi

The ancient Hebrews taught that you should learn from your rabbi by “covering yourself in his dust.” This phrase might not mean as much in our world of concrete and asphalt, but to the ancient Jewish mind, it was a clear call to stick closely to the teachings of the rabbi you chose to follow. Join us for part two of Walk This Way where we will explore how to understand the Bible the way Jesus did.

Principles (KNOW THEM):

  1. All scripture is equally inspired, but not all scripture is equally relevant
  2. Jesus is the fulfillment of all Scripture
  3. Jesus is the interpreter of all Scripture
  4. Believing the Bible” does not make me a Christian, following Jesus does

Practices (DO THEM):

  1. Non-believers: Try following Jesus even if you do not believe the Bible.
  2. Believers: Are you reading the Bible to justify yourself or are you walking in the dust of the Rabbi?
