Rich!

We live in one of the wealthiest societies in history, yet many of us remain anxious, hurried, dissatisfied, and afraid that we do not have enough. We have been taught that the rich life is found by acquiring more money, influence, ability, and freedom. Jesus teaches us something radically different. A young, wealthy ruler once came to Jesus, seeking eternal life. He had what most people spend their lives pursuing. He was young, so he had time and opportunity. He was a ruler, so he had talent, responsibility, and influence. He was rich, so he possessed substantial material resources. Yet when Jesus invited him to surrender what he possessed and follow, the man walked away sad. His tragedy was not that he possessed much, but that he could not imagine placing what he possessed into Jesus' hands. In this four-part series, we will discover that biblical stewardship is about far more than money. It is the joyful surrender of our whole lives to God. Our time, talents, influence, and treasure are gifts entrusted to us for His purposes. God has richly provided for us so that we can live generously.
