Walking Buddies

Road trips are always more fun when you travel with people you love. For three years, Jesus and His followers traveled together throughout the Judean countryside. Along the way, the disciples learned a lot about each other and God’s Kingdom. Throughout the New Testament, believers worked together to serve the church and accomplish God’s will. It is in community that God reveals His plans and purpose. In part four of Walk This Way, we look at the importance of community in understanding who we are and what we are called to do.

Passage (READ THEM)

  1. “Whoever claims to live in him, must walk as Jesus did.” – 1 John 2:6
  2. John 1:35-51 & Matthew 4:18-22
  3. Luke 9 (small group conversation)

Principles (KNOW THEM):

  1. We accept the call to follow Jesus as individuals, but we do not follow Him alone.
  2. Relationships are the laboratory of discipleship.
  3. The character of your friends and the nature of your relationships will determine the direction of your life.

Practices (DO THEM):

  1. Ask yourself (and others) these questions:
    - “Where are the people I am walking with headed and do I want to go there too?”
    - “What kind of influence am I on the people who walk beside me?”
  2. Attend a small group this week
  3. Complete the Ministry Covenant Card
