A Boy and His Slingshot
June 17, 2020
The life and rule of King David are recorded in the Old Testament. He is seen as a hero of great faith who overcame many obstacles during his reign. However, David’s face is clearly seen in a scene before his coronation. As he fought Goliath, God used his weakness so others will see and trust in His strength. Join us for the third message in The Little Things to understand how a foolish boy was able to shame a great army with a few little stones.
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down . . . that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand.”
1 Samuel 17:45-47
Principle (KNOW):
To overcome challenges in our life, we must know who we are, where we are, and who God is.
Practice (DO):
A relationship with God gives us confidence, clarity, and humility.
- What is your Identity? Take time this week to investigate your callings, desires, and skills. Try to develop your skills. Thank God for the things He has developed in you.
- What are the challenges right now? Evaluate how God has equipped you to deal with these challenges. What have others told you to do that do not relate to what God has done?
- What has God revealed about Himself to you? How strong is your relationship with God? Do you have someone leading you to a closer relationship with God?
